Great food and Tony was fabulous to our Atlanta team. Italian options were very tasty.

My husband and I went here for our anniversary. We are so happy that we did. It wasn't our first time, and we always enjoy our food! The atmosphere is very quaint, but they could use a little makeover. The bar area is very nice. Our food was delicious as usual. I did try something new, and I was glad that I did. If you go, try the peach chicken! Our server was fantastic!!

They kindly moved us to a larger table (for a party of four). Server helpful in explaining the menu. German, Italian and American choices.enjoyed the mixed German salad. The appetizer of mixed fried mushrooms cheese and peppers was served hot but nothing special. I ordered the special of the day, chicken pot pie for my entree The pastry was light and crispy. The sauce filling was good. The vegetables were crunchy. The service was excellent. The trout stuffed with crab was good

To paraphrase Mark Twain "the reports of this restaurant's death have been greatly exaggerated"! I had read on line a while ago that the venerable eatery that is Villa Europa was closing. Then this week I read a plea from the owner to please visit since business had fallen off due to many people assuming they were closed. Well I love supporting local places and immediately planned a visit. We arrived at 7:30 on a Friday evening and the parking lot was full enough that mom declared we weren't staying if we had to wait too long! Upon entering there was only one couple waiting to be seated but the dining rooms looked full. The front of the house seemed pretty harried. Three or four servers asked us how many were in our party and assured us a table was being cleared. We waited about 15 minutes as people came and left and the wait staff bustled about. There was no one hostessing which lead to confusion about which tables were assigned. I noticed that all the servers acted as greeters, seaters, wait staff, cashiers and bussed the tables. We were tickled when the young lady who seated us said "table for 2 and the princess" as my 7yo niece had decided to wear a fancy dress and her tiara out to dinner! Once seated our waitress popped over to get our drink order and admitted they were having a very busy night but said it was nice and a "relief". She made excellent beer and wine suggestions and was off to get our drinks. Meanwhile a birthday table was serenaded with the Happy Birthday song played on a glockenspiel(by a server) and another waitress announced that a man running for sheriff was there and would we kindly sign the petition to get him on the ballot. For dinner I ordered French Onion Soup and a Rueben, mom ordered the Bavarian Sampler Platter and the princess got buttered spaghetti. I liked that the menu was not a book which means a better chance you aren't eating a frozen entree that has been zapped in the microwave. It's pretty much the same menu they have had for years except for the prices. The first food out was my soup and moms tossed salad with blue cheese dressing. They also brought a cute loaf of bread that was half a dark bread and half white. Both sides were scrumptious with extra points for serving gold wrapped pats of real butter not cheap and yucky "whipped spread". My soup was good, especially the melted cheesy top. I'd say it was an 8 out of 10. Mom's salad was fairly standard except for the blue cheese dressing which was creamy and delicious. Our entrees followed and we were very impressed. I usually don't order Ruebens because I can make a good one at home but this Rueben was a standout. Lots of good quality corn beef and cheese. There was plenty of sauerkraut and it was grilled to perfection. Their "special sauce" (Russian dressing) was served on the side. I chose home fries as my side and they were a bit lacking in seasoning but fine once salted. Mom's Bavarian Sampler had a white brat, a smoked brat and a smoked pork lion chop and was served with the home fries and sauerkraut. We traded bites and agreed it was all very good. As busy as the wait staff were they were all pleasant. We couldn't help but compare this with a recent visit to another local German restaurant where the waitress acted like we were annoying her to no end. The food here was much better too. We can remember when the other restaurant used to bring out brötchen and butter before the entree but no more. The food at the other place wasn't as good either. It is true that this building needs some repairs and refreshing (Robert Irvine would have a field day ) but we noticed it had a 100 health rating! I hope Villa Europa can hang in there or maybe move (the old O'Charley's building would work) because it really is the superior place for German food. Come on Augusta and show them some love!

We always have a great meal here. The menu has changed a lot. It is much smaller with fewer options but all the classics are still available. A must have is the German salad with marinated green beans, cucumbers and German potato salad. We started with the Bavarian fritters which have sauerkraut and sausage with a tasty mustard dipping sauce. We sampled the chicken Parmesan (crispy and juicy), the veal Parmesan (expertly pounded thin and tender), and the spaghetti with meat sauce (rich and super meaty). The drinks were well made. We also had dessert - Italian cream cake which was deliciously moist and sweet. The service was excellent. The place is kinda old and we were told they were looking for a new location.

Yes, We have been here numerous times. This time we decided to try a couple of different things to eat. We made reservations as always. I would HIGHLY make recommendations. They were busier than I remembered. I received a very nice email from Villa Europa thanking us for our upcoming reservation. Nice touch. "We know you have a ton of choices when it comes to eating out,and we're so happy you picked us. Your friends at Villa Europa." We both had the Escargot Bourguignonne. The baguettes were soft and I got three. My husband got one. So easy fix there. We both got the dinner salads. Fresh and cold. Plates were cold and nice touch! My husband then got the French onion soup (delicious) and a side order of white Bratwurst for us to share. I tried the Villa Mixed Basket with fried mushrooms, fried poppers and fried cheese. I substituted the pepper poppers for mushrooms. Again a wonderful dinner at this restaurant. The ONLY reason - ONLY reason I give it a 4 is because occasionally a worker would come running through the restaurant, saying (almost yelling), "We are behind folks". He did this numerous times and I found it inappropriate and distracting. We thought they were behind in the kitchen. It wasn't until he came through and said "awe are holding our own" and the finally "We won, GA won!" Please this is just wrong to do in a restaurant like this. If a customer wants to know, they can either look on their phones or ask the person to quietly let them know. That took a romantic dinner with my husband away. Now with that said, overall a "usually" quiet and wonderful restaurant. So I would still recommend coming to here. Just make your reservations! Come support this wonderful restaurant! https://www.wfxg.com/story/49639525/longtime-south-augusta-restaurant-villa-europa-not-closing-hopes-to-move

5 stars from me! Delicious German, Italian, and American cuisine! Portions are large and come piping hot! Didn't get a single thing we didn't like. All of the staff were friendly and service was prompt. It has a dimly lit atmosphere with decor reminiscent of a German restaurant. Very cool spot to check out if you haven't been!
